Abstract

Abstract: The focus of this writing is to examine how AI is used in preparing sermons, as there is a perception that using AI in sermon preparation diminishes the influence of the Holy Spirit when the preacher prepares their material. This topic is studied because it is still debated whether AI in homiletics has the potential to shift the central role of the Holy Spirit with technological algorithms. The main research question formulated in this article is: How can we conduct a theological review of the use of AI in sermon preparation? The findings of this study indicate that AI can speed up pastors' work in collecting data, identifying themes, and conducting linguistic analysis of biblical texts. However, the process remained within the framework of Christian theology, which places the pastor as a witness who conveys the word through spiritual experience. Therefore, the authority of preaching does not lie in AI, but in how the church integrates AI within a theological framework that places revelation, exposition, and the work of the Holy Spirit at the centre of the preaching process.
